 | | ABOUT ME | | I was raised and have spent my entire life in the west end of Toronto.
Things I remember about the past include Sam’s Smoke Shop, Steinberg’s Grocery Store and shopping at Humbertown Plaza for the latest Barbie doll outfit. I remember the Westwood Theatre and Kingsway Theatre, Runnymede and Humber Theatres, the Bloor/Jane streetcar terminal & Kingsway Fish & Chips. I remember skating at Central Arena, toboganning at Humber Valley Public School, collecting chestnuts in Chestnut Hills, shopping at Cloverdale Mall, Sunnyside Park, the animals at High Park Zoo, and of course driving through the Kingsway each year at Christmas time to see all of the beautiful lights. When you consider all of the things that have changed in the world over the past 50 years, it seems that Toronto’s West End has really remained pretty much the same. It is still a wonderful place to raise a family with great schools, churches, hockey leagues, soccer leagues, dance schools, rec centres, and eclectic Bloor Street shops. Everything is conveniently located. A well-planned community with considerate & friendly people.
I love it here and that is why I love to promote it!
I have spent the last 28 years promoting home ownership in this city, and I have truly loved every minute of it. Okay, sometimes it was a little crazy when my kids were small and I had to do some juggling, but I believe those are the times that really helped me become a strong negotiator.
Prior to my life as a real estate broker, I worked as a flight attendant for Wardair Canada. Some of you may not remember Wardair, but those of you who do will understand when I say that it is where I learned the real meaning of first class service. Wardair’s high standard of excellence remains with me to this day, and it is that standard that I carry with me throughout every aspect of my life.
To you, my valued client, that means no short cuts. It means providing you with the absolute best service possible. I am 100% committed to you and the community.
I believe in giving back to the community and am actively involved in contributing my time and energy to deserving causes. I help out with local school fundraising. I support Sick Kids’ Hospital; such a worthy cause. I chaired a golf tournament in support of the Breast Cancer Clinic at the Trillium Health Centre. I organized a training program for female golfers in the city of Toronto with the ambitions of improving their games. I coached and sponsored youth soccer teams. I canvassed for years for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I continue donating to many charitable and deserving organizations.
For many years I had the pleasure of being the Stage Manager for the Christmas Pageant at our local Church. Contributions made from this Pageant go directly in support of local charities. It has been an honour for me to be connected with the young people of this community in such a special way. These children put their hearts and souls into the show and the end result is an amazing performance and experience.
Aside from helping people sell and buy homes and helping out in the community, my passions include my family, a great round of golf, spring skiing, running, a funny movie, a great meal, good wine, a good book, a strong cup of coffee, and spending time with my wonderful friends!
My inspiration – my family. My mom was a business woman in her own right. She raised 5 girls (known to everyone as the Tickins girls) and ran a household that never stopped, in the days when dishwashers were rare and everything was ironed. Parties prevailed at our home. She never says no. I can’t give her enough credit. Her mom owned a successful tailoring and needlework shop on Queen Street. I still have some of her hand-made aprons and I cherish them. Her dad was Mr. Mom! How ahead of your time can you be!!!
My dad is a successful entrepreneur. He is the owner of the leading Punch & Die Company in the country. He is still actively involved in the business & he is the best salesperson I know. His dad owned a fruit & vegetable store in The Junction and worked every day u/till he was 90. My grandmother put her money into real estate, bought houses in Bloor West Village and rented them out.
To my 2 daughters, I am passing on a legacy of being a successful entrepreneur in any field they choose. As you can see, I have been blessed with a circle of really great, giving, caring, brilliant, entrepreneurial, thoughtful and fun-loving people around me! I thank my lucky stars for them every day because they never let me lose sight of what is truly important in life!
Now my kids, of whom I am immensely proud, are self-sufficient and I am dedicating my time to my business.
My Business Philosophy
With my commitment to working hands on with every client, I have assembled a team of experts & resources to work alongside with me in each step of the buying & selling process. My product is designed to create excellence in marketing, sales and service.
Whether you are buying or selling, my focus is on getting you the best possible price & on making sure we have a smooth transaction right through the close of the deal. I am extremely proud of the service that we provide!
My career now spans over 28 years of continuous success. I love my clients. I have the best clients, many of whom have become great friends. Thanks to them, I am consistently the proud recipient of the Platinum Award – Sutton’s highest achievement in sales.
I would like to give credit & thanks to my mom-in-law, Shirley Farmer, an amazing artist, for the gift of the hand-painted houses that have become my signature.
